This April, the St. Martinville Garden Club is celebrating the recently renovated Evangeline Oak Park with a public reading of Longfellow’s epic poem Evangeline. For the first time in the city’s history, over the course of five events, Evangeline will be ready in its entirety, beginning and ending under the legendary oak. This pocket edition of the classic poem was designed to serve as a reading copy for the festivities. The 5” x 7” saddle-stitch booklet is accompanied by a 4” x 6” commemorative postcard featuring a photograph of some of the giant blue irises dotting the banks of Bayou Teche as it flows past Evangeline Oak Park.
